About Us

In July 1914, Fred Potter started Fred J Potter & Son, advertising himself as a builder and carpenter, and then shortly after as an undertaker. Three generations of the Potter family; Fred, Bill and Brian, built and shaped Fred J Potter & Son as Broken Hill's foremost funeral home. Fast forward to today where the current owners, Chris and Kimberley, along with their partners Valerie and Peter, are keeping the family oriented business alive. Over a century later, integrity, honesty and a personalised touch are still the core values practised in the business.

Chris McInnes has been involved in the funeral industry in one aspect or another for 9 years and as the current Managing Director, he oversees the day-to-day running of the business ensuring that every family is treated with the utmost care and respect. Chris takes great pride in looking after families and ensuring that the memories of their loved ones are cherished and honoured in every way possible. With a keen interest in information technology, Chris also likes to keep up to date with the latest trends and how these can be applied in the funeral industry to not only modernise the way we remember our loved ones, but by also making it more accessible to families separated by distance.

Kimberley Fell, as a previous employee of Fred J Potter & Son, is also familiar with the funeral industry. With a background in business management and bookkeeping, Kimberley looks to the future of the business ensuring that we are not only here today to assist families, but in the years to come. Kimberley shares Chris' passion for helping people through difficult times and this is reinforced by the traditional principals of Fred J Potter & Son in the client focused approach of dignity, integrity and honesty.
